NYC Diamond District vs. LA Jewelry District

It's  tale as old as time. Like Romeo and Juliet, we are all familiar with the epic rivalry without meaning that rages on between New York City and Los Angeles. (When I move over to LA - that's right.... you heard it here first.) I'll write an article about the nuances and differences between the two cities as a whole. In fact, I would love to write such an article now, but for the sake of focusing on jewelry this particular piece will be jewelry related. In fact, both NYC and LA have rich and historical jewelry districts and learning about their differences is actually fascinating.

So, what are the differences between the Jewelry District in Los Angeles and the Diamond District in NYC?

Having built Isa Foxx from the ground up entirely in Manhattan, and for so long spending time in NYC, only hearing about the wonders of the LA jewelry district from others, I was growing more and more  curious about what actually went on in the jewelry scene of the West Coast. What exactly are the differences between these seemingly opposite areas?

I decided to fly to LA to check it out for myself. In fact, I’m writing on the plane flying back to NYC from LAX so the jewelry district of Los Angeles is completely fresh in my mind. Let’s break it down!
