Motivation to Keep Pushing in 2020

So how and WHY am I making a new collection in 2020? One of the most common things I get asked is how do I 'keep going' Without a boss telling me what to do and with the luxury market being so volatile in this unknown time, how do I do it?

So I've had Isa Foxx for just shy of three years now. I'm not going to pretend I have it all figured out (trust me, I really don't), but I've definitely found ways to keep working day-by-day for myself.

First and most importantly I would say that if you don't love what you do, you won't be able to do it for long, at least not if you're self employed. I love so many things about jewelry and design, from the way that it makes me feel to the physical product. I simply cannot imagine a future without Isa Foxx as the center point of my job, and life. I use that fear to motivate me every day - I cannot fail, I won't let it happen.

Next I would say play to your strengths. I know that a strength of mine is my sudden bursts of random enthusiasm for a task or goal, and my inability to accept something that 'was good' if I no longer like it. For example, just this morning I woke up at 4:00am determined to completely overhaul the entire Isa Foxx website and make it into something new, just based on a website I saw when I was shopping online before bed. I literally couldn't sleep thinking of it's beautiful layout so I sat down for 6 hours straight til 10am and got pretty close to what I was imagining. I know myself well enough to realize that these bursts of excitement come once a week at most and its well worth it to miss a night of sleep than to stick to my daily routine and timing at the expense of losing my momentum.

It's also always been really important for me to have something 'big' on the horizon, with a deadline attached to it. Recently I decided to make my largest single collection ever, the Wild Wild West Collection. I also decided, for myself, that I wanted to have the entire thing done within September so I can have it photographed and online within October and be ready for the holiday season. Is it a huge risk to invest so much during a time when the future is so unknown and online sales have stagnated a bit, yes, but it's worth it to me because it keeps me going night and day to have something so close that I need to accomplish.

I'll keep you posted about when the Wild Wild West Collection launches and how it goes..! For now, stay wild and roar!

XO Isa
